Song selection is critical. I highly recommend that you learn to play “A Horse With No Name” by America for your first song.

It has only two chords in the entire song and each of those chords only require the use of your index finger and your middle finger, luckily the two fingers that we already have the best control over.

The guitar instructor is Marty Schwartz and you will find that he has uploaded tons of guitar tutorials on YouTube and he has lots of great free stuff on his website. Go to www.GuitarJamz.com and click on the "Beginners" tab at the top of his website for a list of free instructional videos.

If you practice 10 minutes a day, I would guess that within two weeks you will successfully have learned “A Horse With No Name.”

I highly recommend that you force yourself to sing along as you play. I know people that have played the guitar for 10 years but can’t play and sing at the same time because they never learned.

Some of you can’t sing. I can’t sing either but it doesn’t stop me because I really enjoy singing while I play the guitar and I believe you will also.

Your one and only goal at this point is to learn how to play “A Horse With No Name.” Watch the video on YouTube by Marty, he will help you progress quickly with your guitar.
